Designing a Fashion Ad With Photoshop
Today you will be learning how to design a fashion ad with photoshop. These techniques can be used for various designs. As an example, Here’s an infographic guide of some amazing things to do in Chicago. This tutorial will teach you how to combine different techniques to achieve this result:

Step 1
As always first start with a new photoshop file. Dimensions are not important. Right-click select the white filled background layer and choose layer from background in the pop-up menu. This will allow us to apply gradient overlay layer styles to background layer:

Step 2
Let’s add more texture to our background. Of course you can choose any texture however, in this design i choose to use Apocalyptic Sky. You can find more sky textures in this post. Bring it into photoshop, desaturate it with edit – image- desaturate and change blending of this layer to overlay. I also duplicate this layer to emphasize the effect of texture.

Step 3
Next, we will add floral elements to our background. You can find great floral brushes (including that i used) in this post. Just add brushes with black color, duplicate this layer and add following gradient overlay layer style to the first floral layer. This will give us a variation of color and a nice blue tint.

and here is the result:

Step 4
It’s now our models turn. I used MODEL STOCK 19 however you can find more stock model photos for your work in this post. Bring her into photoshop and mask out the background. If you are having troubles with masking you can visit Masking Easily With Photoshop CS5 to for more detailed instructions on masking.

Step 5
Lets add a wing to her. I used wing for this tutorial however you can find more wing brushes in this post.

Step 6
Now it’s time for one of my favorite techniques Dodging&burning. For more information for this technique please check out How & Why to Use Dodge & Burn. Here is my final result after applying this technique.

Step 7
We are about to finish. Let’s add a strip to our composition for our slogan or logo etc.. On a new layer start with a simple rectangle filled with color #a40b0d, re-size, rotate and position it and add the following pattern overlay style to this layer. I used fabric patterns which you can find on this post.

Final
Lastly i add a slogan to the strip. I used Diesel Rudolf font. You can find more free fonts on cgbaran.com. For further improvements you can add a logo (of course this is a ad and need to represent a brand) but i decided to leave it to you.
