Tutorial Assets

  2. Light texture
  3. Desert Dancer N – leap
  4. light Texture 8
  5. Dirt Paper Texture

Step 1

Start with firing up photoshop and creating a new document. Bring one of the textures from dirt paper texture (i used light Dark) and also bring dancer and mask out the unwanted parts. I f you have problems with masking you can check out masking easily with photoshop cs5.

Step 2

Now the fun begins. We will add light textures to our dancer. Lets start from bottom all the way up to the top. In light textures i used file named 11 for her feet. Bring it to photoshop, position it and change the blending mode of this layer to lighten.

Step 3

Now use file named 3, position it under model again and change blending mode to lighten.

Step 4

On this step we will use the other light texture. On a side note i love this one. As usual bring it, position it and change the blending of the layer to lighten.

Step 7

This is our final light texture. Bring the final light texture that you downloaded, re-size and position it, change the blending mode to lighten. Finally mask out some parts of this texture so it blend composition nicely.

Step 8

Now its time for my favorite technique. Duplicate all light textures and merge down duplicated layers in to one layer. To do that, organize all duplicated layers into one group then right click  top layer and click merge down until you have one layer on this group. Then, if it is not, put it on top of the layers panel, change the blending mode of this layer to soft light and opacity to %25. Finally we should cut out the parts out of our model. To do that ctrl + click on your models layer mask, select – inverse and clear the selection. By doing that, you will have the reflections of the lights only on your model.

Step 9

Finally, I applied a  levels adjustment layer on dancer.

You can also duplicate and merge all layers in one step by Shift + Ctrl/Command + Alt + E, which stamps it.
